I painted this piece for the 2026 Blowing Rock Plein Air Festival and show. I set up in the sun with lots of sunscreen directly behind the original Mass General Store in Valle Crucis North Carolina near Boone. What I really liked about this scene where the purple shadows shapes on the tree contrasted with the fields of different species of yellow wildflowers that covered the Valle Crucis floor.
