I painted this on Duck Pond just off the Blue Ridge Parkway in Blowing Rock in the fall of 2026 for the Blowing Rock Plein Air Festival and gallery show. I loved the foggy atmosphere in this scene and I started early in the morning and the fog remained for most of the afternoon. I was able to take my time and really capture the scene without the light changing much at all. There were no other trees in sight that were changing colors yet so this one stood out like a centerpiece on the lake.
