This is a beautiful old very old barn at Grassy Creek Vineyards in Elkin North Carolina. I painted this for the Foothills Plein Air Festival and show at Grassy Creek. There was a storm rolling in and the winds were crazy. I was coming in from painting all day and saw this cloud formation over the barn and Vineyard and I had to stop and paint it despite being exhausted. I'm glad I did. I was able to knock out the clouds in about 20 minutes before they changed too much. This painting won "The Best Vineyard Award" which was kind of a big deal since it was all about the vineyards in the Yadkin Valley.
